Speed compressor-is a rotary continuous air compressor, in which the high-speed rotating blades accelerate the gas passing through it, thereby converting speed into pressure. This conversion occurs partly on the rotating blades and partly on the fixed diffuser or return flow baffle.
Centrifugal compressors are speed-type compressors in which one or more rotating impellers (the blades are usually on the side) accelerate the gas. The main air flow is radial.
Axial compressor-is a speed type compressor, in which the gas is accelerated by the rotor equipped with blades. The main air flow is axial.
Mixed flow compressor-also belongs to the speed type compressor. The shape of the rotor combines some features of both centrifugal and axial flow.
